A few years ago some friends and I were dining at a restaurant in Chicago that shall remain nameless. We hadn’t chosen the restaurant based on reviews of their food or service. The choice was based strictly on it’s proximity to the movie theater next door where we’d purchased tickets to a show. As we dined and laughed enjoying each other’s company we didn’t notice that one of our fancy schmancy paper napkins had come dangerously close to the candle adorning the table. Paris Day 3: Jet Lag & Super Glue
I’ve never experienced jet lag like this before. I’ve felt sluggish and maybe found it a little difficult to get going in the morning but never anything like this. airport. Cabbies don’t even expect more because they’ve
already included their tip in the fare.

The Tour Guide & The Local (Part 2)
Last weekend, as I was walking back from the coffee shop, I was stopped by a couple seeking directions. It was immediately clear that they spoke very little English. What was also clear was that he was being “forced” by his wife to finally ask for directions. I spent this past weekend being a tour guide of sorts to an out of town guest. He’s only been to Chicago once before, on business, so I tried to make sure he got to enjoy the city like a local this time around. It’s sometimes easy to forget what a great city Chicago really is.
